So have you ever thought of shipping your bike to Europe, but had no idea where to begin or what's involved?.
My name is MURPH and i'm a full-time Motorcycle Photojournalist,I've been riding and living on my 2004 BMW 1150 GS Adventure since 2009,
and this year,2012 is my 3rd year on the road,so as I was going to ship my motorcycle to Europe to start a 3 or 4 year Round the World ride,I decided to put together this little video just to show you exactly what's involved in shipping your bike Port to Port, the paperwork you will need, and the costs involved.
In my case,I was shipping my bike from the Port of Long beach in CA to the Port of Rotterdam in The Netherlands,so Part 1 will be shot here in the U.S. in March 2012,Part 2 will be shot in Rotterdam when I go to pick up my bike on May 1st 2012.
It takes approximately 5-7 weeks Port to Port,it all depends on how quickly the shipper can consolidate enough freight to fill a container going to your port of choice,so it's not really something you would go to the trouble of if your just going to Europe for a month or two.
I went with Schumacher Cargo Logistics in Gardena CA to ship my motorcycle,I came across them in an article on the Horizons Unlimited Travelers website,a fantastic resource for World Travelers like myself,so when my motorcycle gets to Rotterdam,I will do a full report on Schumacher and how I rate them as a shipper. So far so good though.
My website,WherethehellisMurph.com will have all the latest updates of my ongoing adventure and lots of photography of the places I travel to.
