Reel Breakdown
Main software for shown work was 3dsmax, VRay and Nuke.
Suckerpunch
1. Mecha shooting planes:
layout and final animation of Mecha, airplanes and camera. Animated airplane destruction which then was enhanced with smaller simulated objects and cloth by the fx team. 3d setup in Nuke for comp.
2. Zeppelin engine destruction:
Rigged the engine and prepared the geometry. Animated deformation and destruction.
3. Airplane crashing/ Airplane flyby:
Shot layout and final animation. Extended matchmove. 3d Setup in Nuke for Comp.
Hugo
4. Hugo running, sliding down ladder, sliding down coal chute:
Stitched stereo camera matchmoves of five plates into one shot. Set extension assembly, shading and lighting. Quick digital double rig and animation for actors’ shadow casting on geometry. Rebuild the 3dsmax scene in Nuke’s 3d space for comp.
5. Glass-studio time-lapse:
I did all 3d aspects, except the base model of the glass-studio and the gate. CG vegetation was created with a L System in 3dsmax, and animated to grow and die over time. Shaders were animated to age. I modeled, rigged and animated all glass-studio destruction.
6. Camera pushes in on Paris apartment:
I helped with assembling the assets for this opening part of the shot, tested several stereo set- ups and transitioned them into the matchmove.
Fast Five
7. ‘Vault Heist’ Sequence:
led a team of animators to enhance the plates with cg cable and cg vault animation. Animated two full cg shots with car destruction. Created a rig for the cable with several levels of control. Also created a rig for the vault that allowed for tipping over every corner by animating just one control. Created maxscript tools for rendering animation dailies and for checking and updating lighting and fx scenes with the latest animation.
2012
8.Airplane sliding through snow:
animated the airplane and its destruction (wings, engines). Prepared and rigged geometry for animated deformations and breaking.
9.Car sliding away from airplane:
previz to final animation. Animated some airplane destruction.
10.Cars tumbling down ramp:
animated cars and bigger destruction pieces, then handed that off to fx for rigid body simulation on additional pieces.
11.Car spinning towards camera:
animated all cars and destruction
Previz:
12. 2012:
Scene setups, destruction setups, rigging and animation.
13. The A Team:
Environment setup, rigging and animation.
14. Bachelor Thesis:
complete shortfilm from concept to final. All 3d aspects.
