Leaves of Fire
In the Northeast US, the leaves in the fall of the year put on quite a show! Some are so colorful, it's hard to believe. I wanted to make a video that shows the spectacular range of color Autumn brings as well as capture some of the crispness in the air. Therefore most of these clips are from the EX1 stock lens, no letus 35mm adapter was used (only a few shots anyway!), I wanted it to be as crisp and sharp as the cool mountain air that time of year brings! I color graded very lightly in Magic Bullet Looks, not going for any stylized appearance, just making it look as natural as when I shot it.
The music is some that I own from Digital Juice Stacktraxx.

I really loved it Paul. Nice job.
I was really amazed to hear the same stacktraxx as in my trackdayvid vimeo.com/3511496 I don't hear much DJ stuff around on the net.
Anyway, amazing stuff. Thx for sharing.
Spring and autumn are my favourite seasons. By the way, do you have any spring movies...? I will have a look...
Are you a Terrence Malick fan by any chance?
Funny you should ask about Terrance Malick! He's one of my favorite directors! Thin Red Line is IMHO far superior to Saving Private Ryan and is my pick as the quintessential WWII movie. Days of Heaven is one fo the most sublime pieces of cinematography ever. Every frame could be a still photo or painting.
I didn't watermark this vid, so I don't want to offer it as a download. Sorry but I've had some issues of people stealing my shots and using them as their own, I know a watermark could work, but I just haven't done that yet.
Another fantastic work of art. I came back to you for inspiration, and you didn't disapoint. You are a benchmark for my own work.
Congratulations
Do you use the Leitus much in your normal shooting ?
I'm a big fan of your images. So nice and smooth. You're an example for me...
I was wondering how you can put 5:30 minutes of HD on a Not Plus-Vimeo-account? Can you do that with Adobe Premiere Pro or do you need Sorenson Squeeze 5 tot do that?
Thank you very much in advance for your answer.
Many regards!

As long as the file size is under a certain amount, (500MB) you don't have to be a VIMEO plus member. That is per week, also you can only do 1 HD video a week.
I use FCP to make a 1080P master, then use compressor to make it a 1280x720 sized file. Follow the settings VIMEO recommends and thats it!
I don't get as much time checking out other vids as I used too but I know when I start up one of your pieces I'm always going to be amazed. Simply stunning! I think you are one of the standouts on Vimeo not only for the stunning footage but also your ability to edit and add a soundtrack which empowers the footage. I wish I could be over your way for one of your Autumns. It looks simply stunning. Lets do a deal. If you come my way one day I will give you the full guided tour including a roof over your head and food and if I ever get to the US you do the same.
I'm also a big fan of Terrance Malik's The Thin Red Line and Hans Zimmers soundtrack. I think Tom@timescapes, yourself and I could make a pretty cool production. Lets get together one day and do it.
Mike
Thanks for the kind words! Have you got the update for the Canon 5D yet that makes it full manual? Now I REALLY have to hold back from getting one....only because my wife will KILL me if I buy any more kit.
Hey we could be spending it down the pub with our mates. But they dont see it that way.
your pan shooting at the time code of 1:00 seems to be jumping to me! just want to know its camera or 24p setting or ... !
or some thing else ! please if you notice as well let me know .
cheers
But your productions carry your signature.
Great job!
I'm trying to capture some colors/changes in the Northeast too but I'm just dumb amateur.
Well done...
