For making this Interactive sound environment I was inspired by the sound sweep, a short story by J.G Ballard.

Behind the ruined fence, there is a stockade, a sonic dump where all the sound sweepers empty their sonovacs. The sonovacs are vacuum cleaners for sounds. Once the sound sweepers have cleaned the sounds, they empty their sonic load to the sonic dumps. This place contains all the “cacophonic musique concrete of civilization” (Ballard 1960). Inside the sonic dump there are baffles that absorb sounds and contain many different unwanted sounds that people want to be removed from their cities. Some baffles are perfectly sealed, keeping the sounds inside whilst others are so full that escaped sounds are moving around them. All these sounds have generated a sound storm that has produced an unpleasant atmosphere. This sonic exaggeration has created a sound storm in the core of the sonic dump that spreads all over the place and is audible even from outside the stockade. The digital rain follows the striking sound of the sonic thunder and the sounds that have escaped from the baffles covers the physically empty landscape. Inside the baffles there are repetitive or non-repetitive sounds depending on how full the baffle is.
