There are lots of DIY multi-touch examples out there. The difference is that Microsoft, and others, have productized it in such as way that people can actually use them for more than just slick demos like these. All of the commercial multi-touch devices are expensive, up to $50k walls, but no one has been able to sell one of these homemade versions. And, they never will.

Say what you will about Microsoft's offering, they are making strides and are getting developers working on new apps. That's what it will take to make these more common.

Cool and slick. Now to go to Maximum PC to learn that I probably can't afford to build one(Oh well such is life)

Well I do not agree with Keith up there. This one looks pretty well done at a software level too. Anyway, future Operating Systems will surely have a window manager more "touch oriented" so these machines won't need any special piece of software to be usable without classic inputs like keyboard and mouse.

The idea of making my own is very exciting, I think I'll do it as soon as I can afford a projector.

I just wanted to know what schooling did you take to be able to do and get into these kinds of things. I'm no brain but computers and technology is so intriguing. I'd like to know what kind of classes i would need to be able to work for a gaming mag or a gaming company or just starting my own computer tech biz. Any help would be a hand up!
    Thank you!
