We are good at covering ourselves up. We push our failures, our weaknesses, and our sin deep inside of us to the point where we actually forget who we truly are. We put on our shiny happy faces for the world to see and eventually even convince ourselves.

However, the cross changes things. The Church at Corinth was a church much like our own. It was urban, filled with shiny happy people making pretty for the entire world to see, and the farther they got from the cross of Jesus the more their self deception grew. They missed the opportunity to see themselves clearly and realize that they needed the cross to not only save them, but show them how to live. The cross had become, at best, a symbol or memory for them, when it was meant to be a way of life.

Join us as we turn our attention to the real stuff deep down inside each one of us and ask Jesus to work the power of the cross in and through our lives as we study the words of Paul to the Church at Corinth as they succumbed to the temptation to be shiny happy people.
