  • This is incredible! How long did this take to complete?
  • Glenn Stewart plus 2 years ago
    hi Daniel,

Well it was about 5-6 weeks all up... lots of late nights!
  • Dan Rubottom plus 2 years ago
that looks like a TON of work. Was this film your main focus time-wise during those 5-6 weeks? Great job....

Incredible! I have so many questions, all of which would be too much for here but keep making quality stuff for the kingdom bro! Seeing stuff like this reminds me that there are people out there creating art for the creator Himself that is done in excellence and it reawakens passion in my heart for the same.
  •
  • I really enjoyed this short. Well done! Congrats!

Glenn, our team from Joel Osteen got back from Hillsong conf and showed me your short film on a DVD - I'm reading your behind the scenes notes now. Really amazing stuff! So creative and artistically done. The story was powerful too.
Keep it up, will you guys be doing another film festival this year too?
  • Glenn Stewart plus 2 years ago
Hey Dan great to hear from you! It was great to hang out with some of your team and especially working with them during the Lakewood Night. Thanks so much for the compliments about the short film, but I have to say, some of your work on here is pretty superb. The Joel Osteen Opener i think was one of the first things i "Liked" on vimeo. Anyway... well the plan is that the film festival will be annual thing, so I've already got my thinking caps on for the next one. So do you freelance yourself or do you work for Lakewood?
  •
  • Dan Rubottom plus 2 years ago
Cool thanks:) this film really looks like it could have taken a year, seriously. Also enjoyed the timelapse videos- You must be one really focused dude:)

Is there a website for the film fest? I am both fulltime at Lakewood and do a lot of freelance work.
  • Glenn Stewart plus 2 years ago
ha ha focused? ummmmm yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hahaha i'm a professional procrastinator

there's no website for the film fest as yet, but if you check back to the "GIFT EXCHANGE" part of the website, that's where they had it this year... so maybe at the start of next year they might have something?

why have I not seen this on motionographer.com/
I love everything about this .. style, mood, lighting, editing .. not to mention the overall execution

Can you tell what software you used? other than After Effects.
  • Glenn Stewart plus 2 years ago
Thanks Rami! Well I did submit it to motionographer, but it didn't go up or accept it or whatever... OH WELL....

Umm the software I used other than AE was mainly just photoshop with a little bit of illustrator. The character was photographed along with the fire elements :)

Some very well crafted cinematography on this, very nice visual style. I think german is quite a sombre language, and this adds well to the theme of the short, some good design choices here.

Very nice!! I am John, the CEO of Game Time Videos gametimevideos.com in Orange County California USA - I really enjoyed your video. My cousin took his life away when I was a young kid at age 11, he was someone really close to me. When he killed himself he left a lot of poetry writings about him being THE PHOENIX and he left a letter behind saying he wanted to be burned into ashes..this video impacted me a lot it reminded me of him. I would love to sameday hire you to do some work for us. email me John@gametimevideos.com God Bless. Gracias!!

Hi John. Wow. Thanks so much for you comment, I'm really happy that the film was able to connect with you in such a personal way.

Amazing in terms of film, animation and ediitng, it really is exceptional, well done!! Shame the subject is religion tho.......a monstrous myth for the weak-hearted
  • Sean Smith 1 year ago
"Religion" is a monster! But it wasn't the subject! The subject is "relationship" that you can't earn. Past theory or thoughts but straight to the tangible and real! To an.. encounter- that continues throughout your life! An encounter of grace and love and the real alive spirit of God-encounters that aren't shaken by mere theory about what is or isn't. But is tangible. It's where this video was birthed from! Jesus isn't a myth. Something that religion hates! religion to me is principle without the presence of God! Religion exists anywhere- even in atheism! An encounter with God is only found in one place! If you see religion in this- you missing the point! freedom is the message!
    My opinion of course!
  • Steven Icenogle 1 year ago
A myth by who's terms? There is more proof for a Creator than for the contrary. Read "Cosmos, Creator, and Human Destiny: Answering Darwin, Dawkins, and the New Atheists" by Dave Hunt, if you want scientific and logical proof.

The Bible is true and Jesus is alive!

This is a blatantly Christian piece, yet so subtle. No religion added, just pure salvation. And visually stunning too. I wish I would have seen this a long time ago. Bravo!

    Thanks Mike, appreciate it!

thanks so much Glenn. i must have watched this 30 times over the past year or so. it's super inspiring to find someone else who thinks that God and film aren't mutually exclusive, and that God plus film does not equal sappy storylines and preachy subtext.
i love the surreal potential of compositing and VFX as well, and i look forward to learning these skills and becoming a better filmmaker.
thanks again for the inspiration. :)
  • Glenn Stewart plus 4 months ago
sorry I'm only replying to this now (it's the first time I've been back to this in a while), but amen Belinda, amen -- I totally agree.

I'm definitely not in favour of sledgehammer storytelling and I think it's better to explore a concept than to just do literal translations of the gospel and it creates a much more engaging story for both Christian and non-Christian alike.

Best of luck with your filmmaking and thanks for your comment!
