As part of a Wikipedia usability research study in early 2009, we at Bolt|Peters spoke to fifteen Wikipedia users who had never edited a Wikipedia entry before, and watched them as they tried editing for the first time. We spoke to ten of the users in person at a lab facility, and the other five remotely over the phone, using a screensharing program to observe their screen. We recruited the remote users with the online recruiting tool Ethnio.
