Money Musk is one of the classic contra dances that are frequently known as "chestnuts." The tune itself was composed in Scotland in 1776 and figures for the dance (though somewhat different from the ones done today) were first published in 1785.
Ariel's animation shows the basic pattern of the dance as done by contra dancers; Scottish country dancers have another version. I added audio from the great New England dance caller Ralph Page to illustrate how the figures fit to the calls. We completed the project as part of the first International Money Musk Moment in March, 2009, in which dancers in the US (and three other countries) all danced Money Musk at about the same time.
