Lluis Mallart-Guimerà (Barcelona, 1932) is one of the founders of international medical anthropology, and the first Catalan Medical anthropologist. He began doing fieldwork in South Cameroon in 1964. He taught at the University of Paris X (Naterre), and at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili till his retirement. He has published in French, English, Spanish and Catalan several books and articles. His Cameroon fieldwork covers forty years.
