Promo short made for Zacuto showing myself filming with the EX3, Letus and Zacuto rig.

Pretty shots marred by shots of me. Sorry!

Music is by Faure and is called Pelleas and Melisande Sicilienne. I own a licence for this performance.

Additional filming by Suresh Kara of Documovie.co.uk

Behind the scenes short made by Mark Dawson can be seen here: vimeo.com/4105325

    Again briliant stuff.
I love the shadow scene on 3.05.
    My old tripod is broken,
I want to buy a new one for my EX3.
    which recommend you?

How do you get away with filming such nice shots in public Phil?

I barely have my tripod set up before the cops or some other busy-body tells me to move along.....blah blah...can't film here....blah blah :(

What do you say if you are approached when filming in public?
  • Philip Bloom plus 8 months ago
simple. You have EVERY right to film on a "public highway". If the land is privately owned then you need permission. Like London's South Bank. But most places you are fine. Stick to your guns. It's often the community support officers, aka plastic policeman, who try to move you on. They have no powers to do so.

There are some sensitive areas like Westminster where they like to be phoned before hand due to "heightened security risk". But most places are just fine!
  • Keith Gallagher plus 8 months ago
Yeah, come to think of it you're right. Most of the hassle I get is from poxy traffic wardens and dopy security guards who wander out from the nearby stores or shopping precinct thinking they are "real cops".

I shall be polite but much more firm in future!

    Cheers.

Don't get me going on security guards! In England you can film any building you want from the street, they know nothing, threaten to call the police. Let them, you are breaking no laws!
  • Charles Wyatt 7 months ago
As a security guard Phil and an amateur photographer I will make a point of carrying this card in case my ignorant superior tells me to move someone on for filming outside my place of work. Thanks for this advice and carry on the great work.

They really give you guys that much trouble over there about filming stuff. I mean I could understand, like the parliament building, Buckingham Palace or that defense building. In fact I was taking photos there last year while I was on holiday in the Isle's. And a bunch of machine gun wielding guys came up to me and said no photos of the Defense building. Don't really know what was in the building, but I was happy to move along.

Guess it's just the day of age we live in now.

Phil, as usual spectacular video, it's always a pleasure to watch your work.

Hi Phil, I like your video very much, especially the combination of music and film action, that is the relative speed differences of both.

Technical question: how did you accomplish time lapse plus this smooth rotation on the pedestrian bridge ?
  •
  • Bo Sundqvist 6 months ago
Hey Philip. Who performs the music? I've managed to find three versions but they are all faster than this (+ worse recording quality) and that removes the soothing effect of the version you're using in this video.
