The United Nations Association of Trinidad and Tobago (UNATT) was funded by the Global Environment Facility- Small Grants Programme in 2008 for the project entitled “Mainstreaming Renewable Energy Resources in Secondary School Laboratories and Raising Youth Awareness on Diversified Alternative Energy Solutions in Trinidad and Tobago”.

The main objective of the project is to mainstream alternative energy in the secondary school system in Trinidad and Tobago by implementing solar energy devices in seven (7) schools located in different communities across the country. Using the secondary school network and education system as the vehicle of change and engaging in sensitization programmes targeted mainly at the nation’s youth will be an investment which augers well for the future energy security and sustainable development of our twin island Republic.
