My new edition entitled, “Unforeseen Wilderness” (inspired by book written by Wendell Berry with the same title) gives more light to memory and the ephemeral moments in a place.
These images are mere documents of my own travels, universal to to the viewer. Like portals, explore a place that often evokes an ineffable feeling when I photograph. Represented in a grid format, it reads all nine squares as a ‘whole’ image to create one experience. The other side of the grid is one image, a person that I photographed within the place.
They are printed on newsprint, a textual and ephemeral quality which plays into the idea of memory which is inherent in photography. Each poster folds into one square and can fit into a square mailing envelope. Again, the viewer can change-fold to image of their liking.
