bastard! i wanted to do that!
    looks gorgeous
    how'd you track the cube?
or is it more a case of rehersing with stepper motors/servos?

hey elliot, long time no see, thanks for the comments. there's no tracking in this yet, the digital/physical are just treated like two pieces of vinyl... so I guess the space race continues? :)

my plan is to use wiimote to track 4 points on the top of a cube and then project from the sides.
as long as the orientation of the cube doesn't change too much (i.e. it only rotates in z, not much in x,y) it should be pretty accurate

Very nice! Good to see the proof of concept, did you do any experiments with encoders yet? Great idea with the Wiimote Elliott!

I want to queue in the line of people who are interested in spatial projections on cubes... ;)

Actually, I was thinking of creating a physical cube that is augmented by projection in order to create another prototype of my CubeBrowser project (www.cubebrowser.de).

    From the website:

"CubeBrowser is the concept study for a six display cube with digital screens that makes it possible to browse online databases like Flickr.com. The control of navigation is exclusively accomplished by performing manual actions on the object, which creates a playful way of discovering image collections that are networked by tags."

Please let me know if you are interested in this or have any progress with your work.
