YUM Kalimantan VTC

Last September, when the Clinton Global Initiative asked YUM to rise to the challenge of providing impoverished people with opportunities for “Jobs, jobs, jobs...”, YUM was ready. YUM understands the positive impact of having a reliable income stream to enable someone to break the cycle of poverty – and, very importantly, this goal is indeed achievable.

YUM responded to the Clinton Global Initiative with a “Commitment to Action”: a promise to establish and operate, within the next three years, a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Central Kalimantan.

The Centre will help to fill the growing need for a trained workforce and, in so doing, provide the local community members with an improved livelihood that will raise families well above the poverty line. Moreover, this will have positive impact on the health and education levels of their children, and this will then continue for subsequent generations. Their “cycle of poverty” will have been broken, once and for all.
