Exploring the projection room of an abandoned Soviet era seamen’s resort, the musicians of Satellites LV and their friends found a 35mm reel holding fragments of a film. In a few days, this was turned into a video version of the band’s new single “Pagrīdē” (Underground).

The newly acquired film reels, most likely showing a 1970s propaganda film shot in Cuba, were brought home, cleaned of dust and taken to a movie theatre the very next day. Here they were re-reeled, glued together and projected on the big screen, while being filmed with the help of a mobile phone.

Unfortunately, the first frames disclose only a few of the filmmakers’ names, but most importantly, the film’s title is revealed – “Every Day, Every Hour”(Todos los Dias, Todas las Horas). Everyone is invited to help find out more about this intriguing discovery.

Last of all, the black-and-white film about the Cuban revolutionary armed forces, radars, locators, the secret service, airspace control and the potential attacks of capitalistic aviation arrives in a film studio. Here, the newly acquired material is adapted to the music and transformed into a brand new story, in which childhood dreams of freedom and family are intertwined with constant military control and the presence of propaganda.

“Pagrīdē” is the title track of the band’s new album.
