This is a combination of two trips to Bangkok in June and November 1965. I was a Major in the US Army, stationed in Vietnam. I was in Bangkok to establish a banking facility for US Forces in Vietnam. I did that at the Chase Manhattan Bank there. I was there again in 1973 and it was much different. It was once called the Venice of Asia because of its many Khlongs or Canals. The latest information from Wikepeidia indicates most of the canals have been closed and filled with concrete. This shows the Floating Market Place, the Silk factories and some of the temples there.
