84. Directing Scene Study Assignment: The Misfits, Sin…
8 months ago
Assignment: get a single shot master of any existing scene while only showing one character in the frame at a time. Design new blocking for the actors and the camera under these parameters.

This is a scene from The Misfits by Arthur Miller. Roslyn is portrayed by Becca Schall and Isabelle by Megan Jacoby. The attempt was to shoot a scene from material neither I or the actors had ever read or seen before and see what we can do with it. None of us had seen Misfits before shooting and we still haven't seen it as of now. We figured from the dialogue that it took place before we were born, so we updated it a little bit to sound more natural and then went ahead with the scene. We later learned it was a Western with Clark Cable and Marilyn Monroe, so chances are that our version of this scene is a hell of a lot different from the original (if for nothing else, then definitely for the lesbian undertones).

Shot entirely on a Canon 5D2 with no color correction or editing.

so are you going to use this one for your class, or did you decide on one of the other ones?
