The Burqa Debate has been a hot topic in the Netherlands, and because of my own background (having lived both in Qatar, a conservative muslim country, and the Netherlands) it naturally intrigued me to do an in depth research about it. For this I have done interviews with an anthropologist specialized in Salafism, Ineke Roex, a Dutch-Moroccan woman wearing the niqab, and some research of reports of the debate. One could say it is a debate with many layers and viewpoints, but I chose to specify in the topic of freedom, and who is to say, what freedom is defined to be? I hope to open peoples minds, and look at the issue in a way that you are aware of your own cultural biases.
Many thanks to all those in helping me on my path: Dr. Roex, Minsung Wang
