The flat, graphical characters from the PictoOrphanage reach out into the real world to take their first, dilettante steps...

In 2006 Pictoplasma set off to transform the most captivating, screwball and outstanding character graphics of the time into fantastic costumes. Based on the designs of Akinori Oishi, Doma, Tim Biskup, Boris Hoppek or Genevieve Gauckler, the new inhabitants of the PictoOrphanage allowed real-life donors to sponsor them – and thereby enable the production and birth of corporeal beings.
Freed from the binds of storytelling and advertising, dancers and performers under the direction of choreograph Jared Gradinger explored these new life forms and their individual character, which they have meanwhile proudly demonstrated in countless guerrilla style interventions during their ongoing tour.
