Around my home
A video near my home in Foster City, CA USA, showing the capabilities of the $180 Canon ZR800 (aka MD101) miniDV widescreen camcorder. Shot in "neutral color" setting and then was color graded on post. Some of the shots are not steady as I couldn't fully use my tripod with that specific camera. Music and video are licensed separately under the Creative Commons "BY" 3.0 license.

But I am asking for help if you read this.
As you can see I can handle the camera and editing,
but I am lost with this compression stuff.
I am using adobe pro. If you know the program
please tell me what setting to use to convert for upload
and I mean really woord by word>(too old to understand) should I use WMF, DIVIX. hope you can help. Or anyone moana@rogers.com thanx.
Talking about HD
I mostly use my cameras for artistic videos, not for family gatherings. I think the only thing you can do is either yank the audio, or get an external mic. Depending on the kind of shooting you do, I would favor the second option.
Thanks for providing footage. It was helpful in determining which miniDV cam to get.
How well does it hold up under low-light situations, especially if you upload to the dreaded YouTube? And can the saturation be cranked DOWN any?
Thanks,
Scott
I read your review and saw that you mentioned to record in Neutral color mode. Sorry, I fired too quick!
Do you have any footage in Neutral color mode?
Thx,
Scott
isnt that bits per second, and then at 100+ seconds wouldnt the file theoretically be 500+ mbs, not 40?
oh man. compression confuses me so.
nice videos !
ps: lower case just for you
thx
Your video looks a LOT better than mine!

I know this must record better than what I'm seeing.
Thanks!

can you talk us through the colour grading you did in Vegas ? simple colour correction or more complex secondary colour correction, etc ?
Thanks again for all your insight and help.
