DANCE is a metamodernist performance set against the Brutalist architecture of London's South Bank, and drawing inspiration from the geometric Dazzle camouflage sported by early 20th century battleships.
Oscillating between structure and impulse, absorption and self-consciousness, sincerity and irony, the piece is accompanied by Stravinsky's 'Piano-Rag Music' (1919), in which, according to Roman Vlad, "jazz elements are broken down and crushed to a pulp, then reassembled as if processed by a diabolical machine."
The work is a collaboration between Luke Turner and Jenna Levine.
