When Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem asked us what we wanted to play, we were honest in our urging that he could play whatever he wanted. We finally threw out "Miles Davis & The Cool" off The Gaslight Anthem's critically acclaimed 2008 release, The '59 Sound. He didn't honor that request, but before he left he taught some of us how to play it on guitar. Instead, he chose to dig into his bag of covers, pulling out his raw take on the Irish standard "Whiskey in the Jar." The song has been made famous by heavyweights like Metallica and Thin Lizzy, but Fallon's delicate and unplanned take on this traditional classic definitely suits his sound.
