In the beginning was the light and the light was god even before God was the light. And the light was new and frightful. So we screamed at the light. We screamed and cried and railed against the light, for we had been torn from darkness, torn from the warm comfort which we had always known and we feared this new thing that hurt us. It was everywhere, all around us, inescapable. And so we screamed. We cried. We wailed. Eventually we would learn to worship the light and fear the darkness, to fear the dark warm places that we had known previously. And we would search only for the light, hoping the darkness would never return. But it would. We would run as hard as would could, but the darkness would give chase, and as sure as the sun rises and the earth turns, it would overcome us in the end.
