This is a test of the "Fake Tilt Shift", "Fake Model" or "Smallgantics" effect.
It didn't work very well, I think I just didn't find the right locations to shoot from. For more info about this effect, check out recedinghairline.co.uk/tutorials/fakemodel/.

In order for it to look right, you can't just overlay a blurred image with a mask--you have to use something like Photoshop's lens blur, where the mask actually controls the blur radius.

Thanks for the tip - I used a lens blur in After Effects, but I used a normal layer mask. Do you know how I can make the mask interact with the effect in AFX?
