Hiroshi Ishiguro: "Understanding humans by building humanoids and androids"

There are two approaches for understanding humans; one is the analytical way in cognitive science and neuroscience and the other is the constructive way in robotics. In order to build the humanlike robots, we need knowledge in cognitive science and neuroscience and the developed humanlike robots can be used as testbeds. Thus, robotics for humanlike robots is quite interdisciplinary and bridges science and engineering.
