    I have a Canon XHA1, but this was shot with a Panasonic VDR-D300 (a 3CCD standard-def DVD recorder) The workflow is a little convoluted with having to rip/transcode a DVD, but it's 16x9 and I can get an acceptable image after deinterlacing.

    DVDs get transcoded and deinterlaced to ProRes 422 and then imported into After Effects for color correction and titles.

    The little Panasonic is great for low-profile stuff like this-it's small and unobtrusive.
