    Mmmmmmm
Quite a poor video. Lynch's been lazy
  • The Neighbour 7 months ago
i was checking out Davids Twitter- the guy is far from lazy. Touring Europe, organising concerts, meditating with 1000s of kids in Brazil the list goes on. he has another film in the works too.
  • Chryde 7 months ago
Lazy on that one shot doesn't mean being lazy on his whole life
  • Frederico Machuca 7 months ago
    have to agree.
i expect to see great work from him, not just any work with his name on it.

    Reminds me of David Shrigley.

I think my expectations for this were too high, I'll have to take another look at it again later, and see how I feel.

The design is neat, but the movement and animation is meh

Great music. I feel that Lynch's conceptual imagery is very powerful, but that his animation is perhaps quite outdone by the up and coming whiz-kids of today. Image will always work with sound. Convincing people that the two work together purposefully, and not by nature is something that could have been achieved with a little more polishing by Lynch.

Too bad Lynch has lost his edge. Ars gratia artis.
  • Leonardo Maldonado 7 months ago
    Damn right.
I would like to know what would have been the commentaries if this video had been uploaded without by a total stranger, without Lynch's name on it.

  • Thomas Lew plus 7 months ago
I rather enjoyed it but the animation definitely could have been better. Wasn't bad at all. Just has room for improvement.

Great song by the way Moby!! A true musician, in it for the music.

Lynch is a very unusual and damaged individual, but that's what make his work interesting isn't it? Inspirationally basic.

    Really nice.

The draws looks like brazilian artisans style named "xilogravura".

Chryde is right. Uninspired concept to say the least. Hmmm, let's see the song is called Shot in the Back of the Head, so let's have a guy getting shot in the back of the head. C'mon. If it was't the great "David Lynch" I doubt you all would praise it this highly. There's nothing wrong with objectively critiquing something a legend does. I'd prefer that to a mindless thumbs up out of obligation.

i think moby's music is so-so and his personality on camera is pretty dull and boring. i love david lynch but lately his body of work is a parody of himself. if anyone other than lynch had animated this video i think more people would be criticizing it's amateurish nature.

SWEET! It's awesome Lynch is back doing animation. Did you know he did a comic strip for the LA Reader back in the '80s? This reminds me of the stuff he did for that, "The Angriest Dog In The World." Kind of primitive but beautiful, it was basically a weekly koan in the shape of a comic strip. Thanks for sharing. I definitely enjoy.

I think I'm a bit confused. What's so good about this clip?
  •
  • murejib 7 months ago
It reminds me of Andrey Bakhurin's early animations. But Bakhurin makes it better ))
My respects to Lynch-n-Moby's partnership, but this scary video could have better realization )

Que falta de rigor. Terrible.

I love it, sounds like a theme song to some amazing new movie by Terantino.
  •
  • bumakakabuma 7 months ago
tune is pretty boring, sounds like it might have been something but work was done too soon.
visual is David Lynch putting 5min of creativity and 15min of work into something that shows he did it, but probably while having a drink, watching TV and playing space invaders

this song gives me chills. it's hopeful and sad at the same time. can't wait for the record.

"amateurish" can be an intended aesthetic look, people.
even if Lynch's name wasn't here, the video would still be pretty amazing. because it's got a concept and a feeling, and they work together really fine.
