In the second decade of the 21st Century it’s incredibly easy to take for granted the saturation of the internet with what the new-fangled, surf kids are calling ‘online edits’. GoPro shot videos of 14 year olds surfing their hometowns, edited to dubstep remixes of Katy Perry and uploaded in the wrong aspect ratio, compressed as fuck onto YouTube make up roughly all of the online edits in existence.
This is not one of those. Although I’m sure Katy Perry would’ve suited great.
This is a video that takes you to Bali (for free), doesn’t have mosquitoes, doesn’t give you diarrhoea or scumbutt, isn’t a banchong, but is in the right aspect ratio, is in high definition, does feature the surfing of Joel Ford, Damo Norman and Thom Pringle and was shot and edited by none other than Gabe Roxburgh.
It’s not a cookie-cutter Bali edit. It’s a Wasted Youth production and it’s good.
