DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! We are professionals, or so they say. You can and most likely will lose fingers or other important body parts attempting to make something like this. This configuration shown is a test model only, it lacks numerous required safety features for use by any human.

We got tired of cutting belt by hand, so we fashioned an automatic belt-cutting machine out of a Dynamic Perception Stage Zero dolly and MX2. Only one line of code was changed in the MX2 firmware (increasing limits on distance traveled in SMS mode).

A pneumatic solenoid drives a high-carbon blade at 100PSI, with a pneumatic switch running on 12VDC. The MX2 runs the motor on motor port 1 for the required distance, and the pneumatic switch is run off of motor port 2 (configured to move 0.1" between each shot). Lengths up to about 65k inches can be programmed in. A lazy-susan style feeder feeds the belt from rolls.
