    Good job, Chris!
I am also a climber and I'd like to try to use this camcorder while climbing. What is your opinion on its OIS, is it apt for hand held shooting?
    Thanks for the video,
    Alexei.

What is OIS? Image stabilization? I have not had a chance to try much hand held yet but the HF 100 seemed to work fine as seen in the Viper Video, vimeo.com/2323323.

I just got the WD H58 wide angle and it is a monster, hefty and big. It seems to add some nice weight to the rig and may help in hand helds.

The photos are very good, almost good enough it seems for magazine/catalog use.

Can you explain the difference between 60i and 30p and what might be the best?

also in 24p and 30p on the canon cams they are an 1 or 2 f stop(s) better in low light.

OIS = optical image stabilization. Probably you may consider switching it off when shooting with a tripod.

60i = 60 "half" frames per second, it gives you better rendering of fast moving objects.

30p = 30 full frames per second, detalization is significantly better in this case. If you use progressive device such as computer monitor for visualization then you don't have to de-interlace your footage.

You can check tests of PARAMON to see the difference.

I am actually used to climbing with a cancorder and shooting from the stand ;-) I hope that ois is good enough to compensate hand shaking :-)

I think that 30p should be better in mountains, nothing moves too fast ;-)
