it was day 1 for my Canon 5D and I couldn't wait to try it so I begged my sleepy kid to smile and sing for me.

Here's me and my kid having fun in the house. The Canon 5D is amazing indoors. I used the Canon EF 24 1.4, 85 1.2 and the 135 2.0.

I guess it is his voice for real.
Kid's great, and also the pictures.

This may be the best thing shot on the 5D so far! Be proud!

Thanks guys. I will humbly decline the label "best shot" but I am proud of my kid 8-) I am extremely happy with the Canon 5D's low light capability and ease of use. The footage is really smooth watching it on full HD on my computer as well as the Apple TV. My fear was it was going to be choppy but it's all in the workflow.

Ronnie, I was worried you might be moving away from the video world, however I am very happy to see you moving into the 5d world.

I very much hope that you continue to show some of the great equipment you use to record some of these (dare I say ' Home video's') because that audio room and that apple screen are sick.

Congrats and can't believe the indoor shot. I wonder if that is all ambient light or some key light?

Hey Ian. Good talking to you here. Yeah, just checking what's available out there you know. It's a dangerous quest pushing to see what's out there for "Home" video. This 5D has certainly delivered especially indoors. All the shots were just whatever was available and ambient lighting. What I had was what it needed. It did help that I had some fast lenses I'm sure. Also, the tricks on controlling the aperture and iso also was key. I'm afraid I'll be shooting videos for a long time. I discovered this hobby just now late in my life and it's really fulfilling - at least for me. My dad was a filmmaker and composer. But there were no computers then. LOL! I should have followed his footsteps. The audio room you see is something I built in my house doing children's music. rocketbaby.com Yeah, I love the 30" monitor. I'm surprised they haven't come out with a new version. It's been a while. Must be cancerous or something. Thanks Ian.

Thnaks Eshwar and Mitchell. I'm sure the video could use a lot more creativity but the test was a sucess and I'm very proud of my kid and lucky that he doesn't mind doing this.

The shot of him on the couch/chair is amazing! Any color post-processing? How do you find the quality? Also, I heard that Nikon lenses were better with this camera to actually attain the true quality...you find that true?
  • Ronnie Silos 7 months ago
No post was done. I just shot, edited in final cut with no effects/corrections or anything. As far as lenses, I wouldn't say Nikon will give better quality. A good glass is a good glass regardless of manufacturer. I think where people are using the Nikon glasses instead is to have control over the aperture since the Nikon lenses have the aperture ring you can adjust manually. As far as quality, well, I've never had a video camera that can shoot this GOOD under ambient indoor lighting. Period! I am blown away by what you get. Thanks.

Yes. I exposed my kid to young michael songs. I thought he would learn from the genius. We are sad about Michael.
