Playing around with the new GoPro Hero 2 – this is the raw file from my ascend up Mt Scott in Southwestern Oklahoma. Set to 1080p and the 127 degree medium angle view – the wide angle really did a much better job in capturing this. I have been a little scared off of the ‘fish eye’ sort of look to that mode, but it more than outweighs any odd look that produces for this. Like I said, I just got my Gopro not too long ago and am still experimenting with it before I take a trip to Colorado, etc. and find out too late what the best modes and/or any tricks. My bike itself has been a major issue – it’s a Dyna as I have mentioned and the RAM Mount system is so rigid that it vibrates violently and makes the video unwatchable. I just had a new front tire mounted and balanced that seems to have smoothed out a possibly out of balance tire issue and I’m looking at replacing my front motor mounts to see if that dampens the vibrations a little more. Dynas have vibration as a part of the character of the bike. Unbalanced motor/rubber mounts vs. Counterbalanced motor and rigid mounts of other models. I also notice that keeping that lens clean before getting any important shots might be something to keep in mind – a lot of my runs had bug splats marring the video. This seems elementary, but I hadn’t had it on for more than a few miles before making this run and it already had bug splats.
