La Chureca is a community located literally within Managua’s municipal city dump where disease, drug abuse, and sexual violence permeate inhabitants’ daily lives. Manna Project’s main focus in La Chureca is on Health. Currently, with the financial support of Austin Samaritans, MPI supports a small clinic that is located within the dump. The clinic, “Casa Base de Salud,” is run by the Nicaraguan foundation, FUNJOFUDESS, and provides general medical attention 5 days a week, as well as health education and promotion.
