Looks nice Matt. Did you shoot all of this in 24p?

    Thanks for checking it out!
The commercials were shot at 30fps for broadcast and the films were shot at 24p.

I'm impressed. I shoot at 24p but I struggle with making it look that clear and defined. Do you use alot of color correction in your post?
  • Matthew Byori Mann plus 7 months ago
What do you mean by "clear and defined?" Are you referring to the motion or detail of the image?
Everything is color corrected in Magic Bullet Looks. It definitely adds a lot.

the detail. and nice work with the purdue commericials. my cousin is a boilermaker actually. he would take much pride in seeing this.

The cancer center work was very good - i thought the choice for your VO was just *perfect*...what a great voice.

Also liked the Purdue clips, too.

  • Matt,
I really liked the Cinematography. I was not crazy about the the distorted music, its a bit of a downer and this is a reel, with a purpose to generate business. I would like it if you had less of your movie and had it all in one section, not two sections. Also, not a fan of the guy beating someone on a demo reel, that most likely you are going to use to get commercial work from this reel. This is just my advice, but I think you will have a stronger reel with a few minor tweeks. It shows your skill and that's the key point of a reel.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and critique my reel. Your advice is invaluable and I will definitely use your advice when I update it.
I do hope to use this for both getting film and commercial work, and it felt appropriate at the time to have short moments that show a critical moment in a narrative to show storytelling ability. I agree, the baseball bat moment may have been a little much...
    Cheers!

All of this was shot with either a HVX 200a or JVC GY-HD110. Mostly with Redrock M2 DOF adaptor.
