The opening ceremony of the America's Cup is a Filmmaster Events creation
The sea, in all its possible representations, was at the heart of the opening ceremony for the 2012 edition of the America's Cup, created by Filmmaster Events, which took place on 8 April 2012.
The opening ceremony solemnly celebrated the legendary America's Cup, the world's most important sailing event.
The sea of Naples, which hosted the sailing competition's 2012 edition, quite understandably played a leading role in the ceremony. The sea was brought to the heart of the city thanks to extraordinary video technologies that transformed Piazza del Plebiscito in a giant aquarium. A true Neapolitan such as Eduardo de Filippo had to of course be part of the show: his piece "O Mare" was interpreted by singer and actor Peppe Servillo. The protocol moments of the ceremony, with Olympic windsurfer Alessandra Sensini, celebrated in a spectacular way Italian sport, while the musical finale was dedicated to Lucio Dalla, the recently deceased great singer-songwriter, and great lover of the sea.
