Steven J. De Sa 7 months agoI liked the part where Mike discusses rewards associated with taking risk. I'm not sure if a comparision to casino gambling is appropriate since casinos don't create innovative jobs and big industries. But the comparison with regard to failure is compelling. Nevertheless, even if so many failed ventures do arise, its better to attempt success and learn something than to not do anything and play it safe. People who value technology have obligations; as a society we've invested a lot in science and PhDs. Hopefully they will choose to grow their ideas in an optimisitic, Canadian investment climate. -
Fareed Hameed 7 months agoHis emphasis of the nuances of communication and communication skills I thought was insightful. The importance of communication cannot be understated, especially when a financing deal delivered through a 30-second pitch hinges on one's ability to deliver the appropriate and engaging pitch. -
Andrew Lee 7 months agoThe importance of communication can't be overstated. His critiques about most people's start up presentations is likely shared by many. The dangling question is, why are people, particularly young entrepreneurs, making wordy presentations and what can we do about it? -

MIRA 7 months agoGood presentation. Art of the Start is a good read if anyone is interested and I read the Made to Stick book and even gave it to clients - definitely a worthwhile read.
