I waited weeks for the 970 to come out, and finally got tired of waiting. The only real differences are

-960's lens is on the wider end of the range, 28mm - 112mm. 970 is 37mm - 185mm. The 960's lens can deal with slightly lower light.

-970 has a couple extra "shooting modes" like turning light points such as candle flames into star shapes... not really crucial.

-Different form factor.

I haven't been able to examine the photos from each at the pixel level yet, because you can't find 970 photos on the Internet yet, but I'm pretty sure they have the same sensor chip and processor, so the actual image quality is probably the same.

In the end, since my previous camera's battery works with the 960 and not the 970, I just gave up waiting and got the 960.

I'll make you take some test shots and send them to me if you get the other one.

The brown one will lay blue or green eggs.

Yep, that's it. It records in h264 mov. 720p HD.

Great, appreciate the info. I must have been frozen for several years cos I´ve never seen a digital camera like that (I mean, the photographic "format of camera") to record that nice.
