Lightbeat is a project targeted for the park of Saint Gilles (Liège, Belgium). After talking with stakeholders in the area, soon became clear the park was a wonderful place to be at daytime but at night people tended to coldshoulder the place. Lightbeat tries to build a bridge from the energetic atmosphere during the day to the evening. Lightstrips are placed throughout several triggers such as garbage cans, the playground, benches, walking trails. By visualizing the energy and actions like children playing, putting garbage in the right place, sitting on benches, etc., we hope people start to interact with their environment and feel more unified with it. At evening this light can be used to make the park like an artefact. The energy still flows, the place does not change into something else.
