Mixtape Club presents the official music video for Yeasayer's "Wait For The Summer". Inspired by Yeasayer's polyphonic harmony and tribal sound, this video follows migrating beetles, cosmic apple orbits, and primal spirits through the cycles of the planets and seasons.

The single was released via We Are Free on 10 March 2008 (digital) and 17 March 2008 (limited-edition 7"). The original track can be found on the band's 2007 release All Hour Cymbals.

"Wait For The Summer" has been selected for official competition in SXSW 2009, NEMO, 2008 Bitfilm Festival, and Animation Block Party 2008 Summerfest. It is also listed as one of the Best Music Videos of 2008 by Spin Magazine, Pitchfork Media, The Tripwire, SproutBlog, and VH1's Best Week Ever.

Hmm, very interesting. I liked the rotoscoping/green-screening combined with the cutout style. Good use of textures.

did you do the music or did some one do it for you

  • Sami Abusamra 2 years ago
I can answer that one Mudpaws - the track is by a band called Yeasayer, the album is called All Hour Cymbals (and it's great).

Actually, my question is about the music too - it sounds like a different mix to the album version, just wondering if anyone knew anything about that? Whether it is or not? Where/when the versions might be available etc?

New album "Odd Blood" due in Feb... and I'm not even on commission!

Thanks for clarifying that, Sami. This version of the song is the radio edit, rerecorded a few months after the album to get the song down to a more broadcast-friendly 3:30.

I'm pretty sure you can still buy the single, either on CD or from iTunes. There's at least one b-side and the video is included. Let us know if you have any more questions and we'll try to answer them.
