Recently we visited the impressive exhibition of british artist Anthony McCall. His works are on display at ‘Hamburger Bahnhof’ in Berlin. When you are hitting the complete dark you feel a bit disoriented. Your eyes have to get used to the dark room sorrounding you. Several projectors are installed in the vast black space, throwing light cones through a tender mist on walls and floors.
The installation called ‘Five Minutes of Pure Sculpture’ is a collection of works McCall produced over the last ten years. The artist started the series in 1973 when he moved to New York, where he lived and worked ever since. Mc Calls installations are volatile, at the same time they seem tangible and embodied. He is creating an open space that visitors are welcome to conquer, they can play with his works, interact, communicate or just enjoy strolling around.
