Paul took my footage and created this beautiful thing - it's really 99% him - I enjoyed this process more than anything I have done in a very long time - I am so happy you liked it!! Paul was wonderful to work with - very generous artist and great guy ....

Thanks Dan. Lots of fun putting together this video. =D

Guys that was wonderful, I really enjoyed that a great deal. Dan I like how you filmed people just going about their day to day toil, I'd prob get popped in the chops if I done that here, would have to be real sneaky about it. Paul I like how you stitched it all together, very nice work guys it was worth the wait, even though you are a pair of teases. x
  • Paul Davis 2 years ago
HAHA, Maria. Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it. =)

hehe - I just pretend to be a redneck tourist if somebody gives me a hassle...hehe!
  • Maria Bowskill plus 2 years ago
lol@Dan I should do that. I really should start filming random people, cause they are so fascinating each and every one of them

Very nice gentlemen. Nice shooting and nice editing.
Interesting that you came up with doing it this way.
    Well done !

Thanks Paul. Dan got me some great video. We talked about how unmotivated we were and decided to collab.
  • Dan Huston 2 years ago
Thanks - I had a blast doing this with Paul.

Very nice, you guys! Just a cross section of New York and a really good one at that! I lived on Manhattan 8 years and you got it! Never did identify your bridge - I guess it was on the East River ("my" bridge was the G Wash). The music, unfortunately did not get to me - not a criticism - my problem, not yours.
  • Paul Davis 2 years ago
One of these days, I'm going to find a song you like. =D
  • Dan Huston 2 years ago
Perhaps Henry should pick some music and we'll set a vid to it - hehe!

Seriously, thanks Henry - glad you liked it.

I like the footage that Dan took and I like how Paul edited it, you must like to see your footage be taken and put together and to just wait and see the final surprise. By the way the music was nice.
  • Paul Davis 2 years ago
This was a video created by too people who really needed a spark to get us motivated. I was listening to the song one day and, thought, I can't get any video of New York, I live in VA. Then - biiing - a light bulb came on and I got in touch with Dan. He really got me some great video! =D
  • Dan Huston 2 years ago
Thanks Alex - I love what Paul did with the stuff I shot. AND he took quite a few mediocre shots and gave them some magic.

Your work is consistently excellent. I admire your editing and how it works with your musical choices.

  • Paul Davis 2 years ago
Thank you for the wonderful compliment, Jason. But, honestly, I feel at the bottom of the heap here on Vimeo when it comes to being a good editor. I just keep practicing. =D

i really enjoyed this. the 2 of you make a great team. was wondering, i know with photography we need to get model releases, is video different?
really beautiful work from both of you. can't wait till the next one!
  • Dan Huston 2 years ago
Thanks so much Claudia! I wonder if Paul can answer your question - I'm afraid I can't.
  • Paul Davis 2 years ago
It was shot with a personal video camera. So, a release is not needed in a public arena unless specifically requested. However, if this was done professionally for a commercial project, then more than likely - yes - depending on the event.

The press is different. There are actual laws regarding the freedom of press that allow the media to shoot video as they are documenting an event. However, the press usually needs releases from parents when shooting video of children. Some media may blur child content, depending on the news station and the depth of their legal department.
