Three girls that ride at Rising Phoenix Horse Farm in North Smithfield competed in and won ribbons at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association competition in Syracuse, N.Y. Catherine Cardon, 15, placed 4th in over fences in varsity novice, Brooke Deschamps, 14, placed 9th in future novice flat and Nina Rotondo, 12, placed 7th in future beginner flat. The girls and their trainer, Kris Thompson, spoke to the Breeze about being in the competition and showed off their horse riding skills Friday, May 11.
