SAN ANTONIO -- Police say street racing has led to the death of a driver whose truck went off a road, fell more than 40 feet and crashed into a creek.

The name of the man who died was not immediately available on Thursday.

San Antonio police said the victim and the driver of an Acura were racing on SW Military at Old Pearsall Road when the two vehicles collided around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The truck spun out of control and went off a bridge, landing in Leon Creek. Police said the driver was decapitated during the crash.

The driver of the Acura fled the scene after the crash, police said, and left his vehicle about a mile from the accident scene.

Witnesses told police the driver of the Acura intentionally rammed the truck into the creek.

Police said the driver who fled could face charges of racing and failure to stop and render aid, as well as possible manslaughter charges.
