In 2011, I was invited to speak at the College of the Holy Cross, a premier liberal arts institution in Massachusetts, to nearly 200 student leaders. I asked if it was possible to lead without followers, relating my own experiences as a student leader to theirs and invited students to begin to nurture real, effective personal leadership from within their college environments -- rather than waiting to start after graduating and entering the "real world"
