    Fake.

I'm guessing Vue 7.5 Infinite as the software of choice. The procedurally generated shaky cam and birds gave it away. Plus, the people seem suspiciously blasé about this spectacular show going on behind them.

I'm interested to see if this technology works in real life... if it exists at all.
  • John Forster 3 years ago
Ok, now I'm impressed. But why mess around with digital composting in the first place? I think the live video looks just as amazing.
  • Simon Roberts plus 2 years ago
Yeah... i don't think this is real... nice ideas though
  • Blake Johnson 3 months ago
It's real. Someone came from Obscura Digital to my school today to present on the technology of video projection mapping. Why is it so hard to believe? It's pretty simple, just live use of VFX techniques. And sometimes using motion-sensors or other things to trigger it. He recommended Resolume and Touch Derivative as pieces of software to get started with it.

Thats an amazing video, what software did you used????, and, well im not a 3D expert or something near, but the projection is made entirely in 3D and the compost???

    Other than that, congratulations...
  •
  • Awesome. Can you share details on how this was done? How many projectors? How long to edit? Software? I can see many possibilities here even on smaller structures--statues, street circles, at concerts, and on and on...

I think the titling and explanation of this video are a little bit dis-honest. This is a rendering and you should make mention of that in your explanation, rather than leading people to believe that all of what you presented is actually possible when doing video mapping installations.

  • Arlo 2 years ago
Okay... cool, looking at the live demonstrations. But, they are decidedly less impressive than this video.

One thing I don't get... if you look at the sequence starting at 3 minutes in, how is the light from the projection finding it's way outside of the buildings dimensions? ie: The light's "bloom" in the animation frequently extends beyond the boundaries of the building (look at the top of the building).

    So... what's going on there?
  • Arlo 2 years ago
Ok, I see in the comments that they have stated that this is only a simulation. Kind of disingenuous not to mention it in the description though...
  •
  • VJzoo plus 2 years ago
Nice work! Although do the clients get grumpy when the real thing doesn't look quite as spectacular as your mockup as per this video? So many people have sent us this video thinking it's real, I agree with other commenters that you should make it more clear that this is just a simulation. I guess at least you haven't deleted such comments, that's something ;)
  • NuFormer plus 2 years ago
Hi VJzoo, thank you for your comment. We had already posted a comment with the link to the live performance some time ago. Just to make it a little more clear to everyone that this is a simulation which shows the creative possibilities we have added this in the description of the video as well.
