Though I don’t feel like my work at Signature Cycles is done by any measure, I will be moving away from Greenwich, CT in a few short months. My planned move puts me in a unique position to find my replacement. I’ve worked in bike shops for most of my working years, and I’d like to think that I’ve ascended to working at Signature Cycles. My time at Signature Cycles has improved me professionally in as many ways as I have improved the business.
I wear a lot of different hats at Signature Cycles, which is not unusual for many small businesses like us. A typical day will see me working with a client in a SizeCycle fitting, some time updating our web site and blogs, and tuning a bike or gluing tubulars in the workshop. A wide range, to be sure. As my replacement, your primary responsibilities will be sales, being a resource for product knowledge and processing parts and bike orders.
We seek a candidate with an open mind that is willing to learn new skills and adapt to the needs of our clients. You won’t necessarily need to bring with you experience in high-end bicycle sales. What you must posses, however, is an ability to listen to and understand a client’s explicit and implicit needs. Signature Cycles is in the business of making our clients extremely happy, whether it’s by providing a single inner tube or a $20,000 custom bicycle. We are a studio setting where we can take the time to focus on our clients one-by-one to be sure that all their needs are met, and better yet, exceeded.
You do not need to be a particular type of certified bicycle fitter, or a certified fitter at all for that matter. Considering that the powers that be at Signature Cycles have trained over five hundred dealers on Bike Fitting, you will be trained by, arguably, the best fitters in the country.
Strong organizational skills and computer skills will make your life at Signature Cycles (and the lives of your coworkers, Lori and Justin) much easier. You should have mechanical aptitude sufficient to confidently perform simple adjustments on a bicycle and any parts exchanges related to bicycle fitting.
Lastly, the thing that brings us all together – a strong desire to ride your bike – is highly desirable. Please send a cover letter and resume to Paul Levine: firstname.lastname@example.org
