While usually we completely ignore the sounds of a computer - like that of the hard disk or other smaller noises - this experiment is amplifying electromagnetic emissions, which are send out by the CPU or the motors and magnets of the hard disk. The two coils used are not microphones, which means they don't amplify acoustic waves, but electro magnetic waves. These unwanted emissions are byproducts of the computational processes happening inside the computer.
