Katharina, I've been showing this around. People are overwhelmingly impressed. Several have said they want to see more using this set-up. I think they're right. using your laptop camera really works and i think the use of sign-language is really engaging, even if (and in part because) I can't follow it. Speeding sign language up and cutting it into edited bits is worth more exploration.
Because my son is learning sign language I wonder if you'd be interested in collaborating on a project after the break. If so just drop me a line.
This video is one of the most interesting things I've seen in ages.

    that is awesome!

collaborating would be great! the only thing is that i will be in florida, BUT there is a solution. not sure what, but there is one.

Will you be coming back after the break?

If yes, what department are you going into?

If not, the kind of collaboration I'm thinking in terms of can certainly be done by remote. Maybe even using Ichat or something like that.

I totally agree w/ Justin, Katharina. There is something about this piece that stands out, and not just w/in your work but w/in many things I have seen. I would say to look at the rhythms you created here - audio and visual ones. And the over-all simplicity, that transcends all the loud, bright junk-that-resembles-MTV-advertisement we see today ... If you are back in town anytime this semester drop by or call anyway!!! And keep making things!!!

I guess that I sound as an echo. But I have to agree with Justin, Peter and Brad.
This is truly outstanding. I will have to watch this again and again. It is disturbing, magical, realistic, surrealistic, metaphysic and beautifully simple.
    Wow...

I'm not sure what I can make of the sign language, I find it expressive but then again, I struggle with what it actually conveys for me.
Nevertheless, the 'story' is great and the vision of this future very intriquing.

Very creepy, and very cool. I agree that the setup is worth exploring more. Sign language is incredibly expressive, especially (as Justin said) because you can't follow it.

I love it. It would great to see you advance this story further, perhaps two more chapters, with the final chapter showing her change suddenly! I just really enjoyed this and would love to see more!

That's great. Can i get your permission to play it sometime in a experimental music and visual event I'm running.
