So here we are, another paragraph for another Buoloco installment. Trying to nail down the issues of an industry is difficult. Rather than look at numbers, I prefer to look at the more abstract. Snowboarding isn’t really as core as you or I might like it to be. The media is all about trying to make snowboarding look down and dirty, like street skating or skateboarding in general. Problem is, it isn’t skateboarding. And it isn’t really very core. You need money to snowboard. You need gasoline, as Ed would say. The media and brands love to act like it’s a bunch of in the know, dirty lifestylers. The industry markets snowboarding this way, but the sales are to rich white guys and their families. Maybe the industry ought to stop pretending to be something it isn’t and come to grips with what it is…..
I get to travel a lot with my job. Here are a few photos from some of my travels this year. I like snowboarding, I may not be rich……but I have fun anyway!
